Artist Statement for Time Raiser: These 6 images, based on Jacques Lacan's pyschoanalytical concept of the mirror stage, continue my ideas of photography as a tool that allows for intervention of personhood in found spaces. Lacan has written "the mirror stage is a phenomenon to which I assign a twofold value. In the first place, it has historical value as it marks a decisive turning-point in the mental development of the child. In the second place, it typifies an essential libidinal relationship with the body image" In these images, I work through the idea, that not only is the mirror stage unlimited to childhood but it is an ever renewing presence. Every time a subject moves past a mirror, he or she uncovers themselves, as beings who are part of a community, and as corporeal beings. As someone who rarely works through their body, and who lives in a culture that distorts ideas of both libido and flesh, I find that this project extends and literalises the metaphor, that documents the explicit moving through the invisible and visible patterns of cities.
