got into banff, worried about money, and how rachel is going to handle money, and issues with pauls scheduling, but got into banff.

went over to ashleys on thursday, and his dad was there, problematic to begin with, and then it got worse, had to drag tony out of ashleys place, lest ashley get evicted, sent him down at they, mental illness, and substance abuse problems remain, incredibly stressful.

saw john, his mom has cancer and is in surgery next week, his pastor may or may not leave for wisconsin on sunday, his friend is in the middle of a kidney transplant, and school is difficult. figuring out how to deal with this, john being stoic and all, i just told him i was there, call any time day or night, and i would be home, and he called me a nice guy--i dont know how i am going to handle this kind of besmirching of my charchater. (on a more amusing side note, we went to a toy liquidators before we went to lunch, and i had a 50 dollar bill on me, the elderly lady made a prosiution joke)

mostly john and i talked about g-d, which for many of my xian friends is a lot like talking about football or politics, the equivalent of small talk.

had a beer with aaron, and he was in a strange mood--we talked about the liberal effects of the academy, the role of femminism on scholarship, how ignorant he felt, ethics, the onslaught of orthodoxy, etc etc, in addition to jazz, and the like. drinks with aaron are fascianting, because he keeps pumping me for information, like i have the key to the universe or something...we also talked about sex, and the radical potential of masturbation--every discussion w catholics about ethics comes down to how often you talk about touching your penis...he also said at the end of the (fairly free ranging, wide loop around) conversation that it made him sad (worried?) every time i talked about not being catholic because he thot i was what the church needed and that i was an "exemplory" catholic, which is batshit--i mean thomas is needed, and thomas is a saint, but one doesnt build the church around thomas (though he did build it on peter, and peter denied christ thrice) (though thomas never denied christ, he just questioned)
