if i think of sex (if done b/w two people who love each other) as a holy, communal, sacrament--then why do i think any attempt to extend that into longer, more intricate situtions are not about love but about property and power.

if sex is a gift from god, then isnt marriage--a longer, more difficult, perhaps more rewarding commitment, is our gift back to her.

marriage misused does not mean that marriage is always a sin, always about abuse, always about the destruction of personal autonomy.

and anyways, doesnt god call for a de(con)struction of personal autonomy ?

(side note: celibacy came for catholic priests because the Church wanted to keep bishops property in its own hands--andrew asked me on thurs. if this meant that all of the gifts that came from that policy were negated--i told him of cuorse not, perhaps (not perhaps, deft. ) he was telling me to look the same way @ marriage.)
