early american, lds paintings, some of them have a really angry, almost apocolyptic edge (like tar and feather the prophet; or mobbing on the missouri, or the ones from carthage) and some of them have a solid, documentary enegry, brugehel skies and grandma moses people.

i dont know anything about the artist, but they reach the level of j pinkham ryder...fucking amazing.
