"real" becomes less so when filmed, deciding what to depict and what not to, is impt--and capote played into the sterotypes. i really did think that capote (the man, and how psh played the man) was a minstrel act and the whole line about him being pyschopathic because killing the boy he wanted to fuck made a better story, fit into that whole peter lorre noir genre, and was an easy role and him winning set things back

(a similar problem i had with his roles in flawless, and boogie nights amongst others)
