I am debating whether to post them on the blog, they are all over the web, and they are available from a google search, and by linking them, you can chose to see them or not. i dont think they change anything, we know what happened there, we have seen them once before, and those they affect, will be affected. noting what happens in the general culture is more impt i think...like this from mcfarlene toys new miltary line , the propghanda, american as comic book hero is nothing new, and the sort of soft fascism is distressingly common, but to make a toy that has visual qoutes from previous abu gharib photos, shows that we refuse the lessons of history, we refuse to look carefully...i think thats why im not img src'ing the photos, because i dont think seeing them again and again will change anything (another side note, tagentially related, flickr hit its 100m upload today, reminding me that no real critics of photography has really taken to the political/formal/aesthetic/personal implications of citizens constantly recording themselves, for better or worse--there has not been a camera lucida, on the pain or suffering of others, or others on this (telle me im wrong if i am) the photos in the above link, are one extension of the instincts that mark my flickr acount, my blog, anyones flickr account, everyones blog--we have as a culture, now, absorbed a desire to constantly record everything that has ever happened to us electronically--and i am unsure whether its a cthulluic remix of big brother or a viral remix of the price of freedom is eternal vigalence. it is strange, and it is there, but i dont know what it is (i pitched a story about this to bad subjects and prefix, both said no)
