I was shocked how much i loved this, for its writing. action drags a bit, racist and misogynst in places, but the writing is amazing (oddly, the set peices, which are usually reserved for death or sex in crime fiction are reserved for gambling or cars. i dont care much about cars, but there are several sections on people playing baccarat that are as close to holmes as ive read...i want to read more.
