these tintypes of current cowboys have a overly literal romanticism, and a nostalgia for a time not quite done, and would so, even if it didn't feature a method used v. heavily in the same geographic regions 120 years befoer these images were taken. all of that seems obvious though, and there is something tender and haunted, in the death of the west kind of way, that is well done.

i like to read this sermon by King, because it seems by making him a martyr with his own saints day (literally in terms of the ECLC calendar) means we break away the difficult and angry parts of his seeking of justice. this is his work against vietnam, and by extension, the problems he had with the state.
