corpus christi

here is the day
to notice death

not the resuruction,
or the spirit

but the body given
to the ungrateful

walking out,
after communion
i see a mother in the antechamber
where the host is kept
alive

from the back, i see her
nursing,
baby suckling on new teat.

madonna, as christ looks on
two feasts,
one of wine made blood
one of milk made spirit.
