had a long conversation with jeff today, basically about how ideological opposites, esp opposites w.i the realm of sexual ethics manage to maintain dialouge, or why they mantain dialouge, there were the usual reasons: convincing people, the general value of discourse, a basic communiation ethos, obligation to social or religious ties, et. al. but as we were talking, and he was lifting his head over his shoulder, as his shirt rode up, as i saw his belley, and the waistband of his briefs, i realised--an impt but unstated reason that i communicate with jeff, is that i want him to close that door, i want him to drop his dick out of his pants, all of the talk in the world reduced to the infitenselmey small chance that he will eventually fuck me.
This time, the anger lasts long enough for Ebert to write it down. He opens a new page in his text-to-speech program, a blank white sheet. I think that autism can really be divided into two categories: lower-functioning and higher-functioning. For lower-functioning autistics their main problem is people thinking, "How can it be a human if it can't communicate?" and all of the implications and related problems from that sentiment.

Leo Kanner discovered autism at the same time as Hans Asperger. But Kanner's patients were lower-functioning than Asperger, and he tended to view them in a more cynical, clinical way, dehumanizing them. He held little hope for his patients and blamed their parents for their dysfunction.
Because Asperger's work was lost for decades, it was Kanner's view of autism that became widely accepted for decades.
It was eventually realized he was treating lower-functioning autistics who could never live independently, but his attitude was still barbaric.

i think that if we had a culture that was more sex positive, that truly ignored sexual behaviour, where sexual behaviour was not a reason to lose yr job, or even be out of the running for a job, if you had to lie because if you told the truth there would be no future, then it would different.
sex makes everyone crazy, fucking makes you lose yr brains, it destabilizes, it reorients, and there are other reasons for him not to be elected, but t hat should be a choice that we had as voters on election days, not one taken away from us because as an electorate we cannot view past other sexualities.

audre lorde's essay on emily dickinson, which i read at 7 am in the tub, made me think about her in a new way. i think about whitman and dickinson in equal measures, every day almost--the same images, the same poems, the same lines--they are part of my firmament. but i have written about whitman, qouted whitman, thot outloud about whitman, made whitman part of my public discourse more than dickinson.
lorde made me sort of realise why. (whitman is expansive, and the horror, the blackness of dickinson is interior, it is about the soul, the body, the house) there is a page in lorde's essay, where she talks about her domestic tasks, her knitting, her sewing, her canning jellies--and then talks about the sewing of the books, and how those two tasks were of the same stripe, but then talks about how little critics treat dickinson--how the internal, the mysticism of inside work of loss, of grief, of desire, of sex, of the xtc and instability of the body are impossible to contain, how microcosmic is vital (this is me: the microcosm of dickinson mirrors the macrocosm of whitman)
because she is so interior, dickinson does not invite us in, does not let us be as discursive as other people as other writers (and not nessc. female writers--in that time and place there were sermons, instruction books,poems and novels that were exterior.)

so there is a (crosson derived) soultion to some of the more problematic passages in paul, namely they are intertextual additions as a way of stabilizing paul later on...that works, it allows me to engage with paul.
two problems:
a) what to do wiht the still cannonically problematic timothy
b) what to do w. the long tradition of work from the previously extant readings of paul?
