"I am mindful that we're all sinners and I caution those who may try to take a speck out of the neighbor's eye when they got a log in their own,"

One of every 15 inmates is a woman. Forty- six percent of those behind bars are African-American, 36 percent are white and 16 percent are Hispanic. Nearly one in every 10 black men between the ages of 25 and 29 is in prison, compared to 1.1 percent of whites and 2.9 percent of Hispanics in the same age group.

I am reading Olsons poetic reflections on Moby Dick right now, and they are so difficult. He talks above his reader, both in context and in symbol sets (maybe not every reader, maybe just me) But the langauge is so rich and the syntax so wonderfully gnarled, that i am gaining much from it.
Seadris is reading the book itself and having as hard a time, and is punishing himself until he can finish.

As a good catholic i cannot advocate Abortion, but I think that for most it is a descion of social and economic nessicity. Those who tend to terminate pregancies do so because the support after birth is so limited, and prenatally it is not much better.
To view killing the hope of children must be intensely destructive, but it is a choice that needs to be done, because more options are always better and because it is better for these actions to be done safely and hygenically rather then in back allys with coat hangers.
In this sense, Warren Buffets quiet campaign for reproductive freedom is to be encouraged.

A Colorado High School student calls his principal a fucking faggot, and he gets punishment. In response, he sues the principal on first amendment grounds.
His PD has written a great sociopoltical history of one of the words, mentioning everything he could in context ofd the arguements. What he did miss was the faggot. If i was prosecuting this case, I would concentrate on that slur, which does not have a long case history that makes it acceptable.

Bush is taking most of August off for some reason (i think that he would have wanted to stay in Washington so that he could fight terrorism), but before he does the Washington Post wants him to go solo on a Press conference.
Now he hasnt done so since March, letting everything be handled by Press Secetaries or answering a couple questons on the fly but the democratic barrage from reporters seems to have been avoided.
If i was inarticulate as Bush, talking to Reporters, who have their own agendas, would be worrisome.
Do you think hes going to do it ?

well, dont you know, us faggots have an agenda. its to make every breeder everywhere drop children and opposite sexed spouse and to come live with us.
the first step in this operation is to let them watch us on television, cause nothing says homosex is fun more then the three charachters that actually exisist in prime time.
after that, pop music, movies and interpertive dance.
in months sodoms orgies will happen everywhere, and god will destroy the world.

when wolfowitz uses the word murky in terms of intelligence, what exactly does he mean ? Does he mean lies, disinformation, deception ? Is he excusing the lazy, the criminal ? Were the actions committed in Laos or Cambodia or East Timor or Korea or Nicuroga (sp) or Chile effects of murky intelligence, or just a continutaion of the policy of permant war ?

last winter i was
working the grave yard,
its not quite snowing,
and i see this lone grey sky
it buckes in antcipation
as the light catches on frayed corners
which filters onto
dark, dun fields.
ii
this is you agnes,
this was you in venice, new york and taos
this means that you never left
the provinces, and each line,
each shade of lavendar
and tint of blue
would be that light.
iii
like a farmwife
you did the work,
framed, and painted
like milk paint on a barn
a chore that become
your way to god.
iv
now you are away from the farm
in town.
70 years of meditation,
with no room for paintings.
with a schedule that is not your own,
their are rumours you leave a sketchbook
under yr pillow
when we die, will there be
revelations ?
v
you never married,
or had children
you didnt talk to anyone
you failed to network
you didnt go to the parties
you wrote some, but
nothing really about yr work
and most of it failed to publish.
grand nun of the desert,
without demons or angels.
vi
at the tate in london
i wandered, looking
irony, noise, blackness
anger, destruction.
the art there, so little joy
and less intimacy.
when i saw the canvas,
in the last room
on a wall far from the door
i stood infront of it
10,20,30 minutes
till i came into zen
and cried.

New Stats suggest that the largest number of level one sexual assaults (ie done w/o weapons, etc) are done by boys 11-14. Even 10 years ago this would be considered boys being boys, recontextalizing this behaviour as rape teaches them a lesson, and i think it is a lesson that needs to be taught, however i am unsure wether the criminal justice system is the best way to do this.

These rebels have kidnapped american and australian diplomats as an act of self defense, and as a way to let the world know what they know, namely that the phillipine gvt may have been selling weapons to communist and islamic exremistis as well as staging terroist bombings for sympathy and aid for us defence.
The BBC took that photo down w/i 8 hours, i think because of how healthy and clean the rebels look, the image they replaced it with is an ugly fatigued man with his hand towards the camera, which is reminiscint of the perp walk, the violent and ignoble revoutionary and the soilder who cannot control his instincts.
this is the link to the story, which has also been rewritten
this is frightening, in that the bbc has lied to us, changing the image was moving from fact to propghanda, and from reportage to poltically motivated disinformation.
i thot they were above this.

cowboy won the oscar, which must have been the time and place, cause it was so radical and isolating that it would seem to be out of place during that gladhaddening.

Gibson is not a real catholic but part of a dangerous and schismatic movement called the latin tridentines who are trying to crawl back to pius xii, ie before the massive and important (and god inspired) changes of the second vatican council.
this film is propaghanda for a christianity that is legalistic (which paul warns against)--by that legalism the view of the church as alive and interacting with its traditions is lost, with these things lost, there is also lost the progressive church inspired by a view and of Jesus as a radical and progessive social leader.
he is v. much informed as well by a political agenda that is as conserative as it comes.
i am not looking forward to this film, as i am not looking forward to the continued infulence of thoughts similar to Gibson, including Cardinal Ratzinger, who has met and disucssed the persavation of the family with our friend mel.
deeply violent (think hamburger), deeply frightening, and apparently all paid for by gibson himself.
(reviews are mixed though)

ELMORE LEONARD'S RULES OF FICTION WRITING:
1. Never open a book with weather. The reader is apt to leaf ahead looking
for people.
2. Avoid prologues. They can be annoying.
3. Never use a verb other than "said" to carry dialogue. The line of
dialogue belongs to the character; the verb is the writer sticking his/her
nose in.
4. Never use an adverb to modify "said." It can interrupt the rhythm of the
exchange.
5. Keep your exclamation points under control. You are allowed no more than
two or three per 100,000 words of prose.
6. Never use the words "suddenly" or "all hell broke loose."
7. Use regional dialect or patois sparingly. Once you start spelling words
in dialogue phonetically and loading the page with apostrophes, you won't be
able to stop.
8. Avoid detailed description of characters.
9. Don't go into great detail describing places and things, unless you're
Margaret Atwood.
10. Try to leave out the part that readers tend to skip.
11. If it sounds like writing, rewrite it. If proper usage gets in the way,

If proper usage gets in the way,
it may have to go.

50 christians singing hymns randomly on the street corner, zines and posters on walls, tracts that ape punk handbills, rock and roll music, xxxchurch.com and the god kills a kitten meme, tent revivals in downtown parking lots like TAZs, all of a sudden evangicale christians have come into situionist pranks and dadaist street theater--some questions--
1)where did they pick all of this up, most of them really arent the leftists i expect.
2)why did they pick this up.
3) irony, artifice and perfomance seems opposite of the christian lifestyle, and street theater required it.
4) what can the left learn ?

I have two ways to go right now, or three.
One keep writing, send poetry in (taint will have a piece in sept, when the book will come out), criticism, editorials, etc. maybe I can make a living out of it, but I suspect I cannot.
Two, give up the above life for jesus christ. My lord my saviour, (and in the words of stephin merritt, he rewards my good behaviout)
Three, quit playing arround and get a real job.
I feel a whole, I am the happiest and most content of my life, and I have much pleasure, but little joy.
I went to kdays today, and I ate too much, and went on rides and failed at shooting and skeeball (about failing with shooting-do I make strong moral postions out of elements of my own failure, do I hate guns and soilders b/c I could never have the discipline and order to be one)
I also clung to pat, spent the most time with him, hugged and put arm on shoulder held hands, intitated physical contact.
Sean on his blog made a comment about feeling uncomfortable with my coming on, my cock jokes, my dick being hard, my freedom and ease about sex (that’s what would prevent the monastary, not that I have lust in my heart, but that I have this freedom about desires)
Shepered fucked me when I was 14, I loved him, worshipped his strength, looked to him as a father figure, and he fucked me---and I had a sucession of lovers that were older and more in control. Ways to reconstruct shepered. My parents split at an early age, and then my father left.
I have had anger and confusion towards him for a long time
i have extensive mental illness and depression, and seek out companions
I am not sure I am happy being queer, and i am afraid that i would be plain and uninteresting if i wasn't
Often it is a way of social climbing, of getting postions and having an angle.
was i born liking to fuck men, or was i led there by these factors ?
I love patrick, but have no context for that love, I dislike my sister, have no brothers, feel isolated from men, I only know how to express my love thru sex, which is sick and sad, cause I don’t want to fuck him.
Every realtionship has a power dynamic, top or bottom, and In absurdly rare cases an =, and pat is that for us, for me and for bryan and for sean (also in his blog, sean talked about this, and bryan has said it—sean I cannot parse, danielle and I are in constant conflict about who wins, and well bryan is bryan—pentrating, thrusting, big and butch and interferring, he and iare paternal and not fratenal.
I need pat, I need pat to tell me everything will be ok, I need pat to tel me I can love a man, I need pat to listen, I need pat, like everyone needs pat and no one tells him.
I counted everyday that pat was gone, and not a day that brian was, I spent 22 hrs with pat in the last three days.
We have heard all each others stories, what is left ?
To make new ones, but we have fallen into patterns, what has bryan learnt about in this trip
In the last three entries he discussed things that he wanted to talk to about pat, but only corrected me about portland (want to see a culture of resistance, go to powells, the biggest indie bookstore in the world)
Brian convinced the world to house and feed him for two weeks, and maybe that’s unfair but I expect he thinks the world will.
Pat brought me back a medal of bendict and I am going to wear it, have been wearing it, close to my heart, b/w my heart and my belly like a trapeze artist, that’s what I am, order clinging to somewhere b/w the two, cause I live on chaos its an uneasy life.
I don’t know how I feel.
I need God.

thinking of minor thirds again, i am looking forward to the cd cause of the post pop imagery, the manila folder, the hand stamped wheat sheafs, the booklet.
is that wrong of me ?
(the wheat sheafs are offically the symbol of sask. and they are one of the more elegant designed elements in recent memory.)
(its really been insanely lush outside in the last few weeks, out my window i can see a dozen shades of green (poplar leaves, grass, dandelion greens, the stalks of germniums and dasies, firs, maple and birch leaves, elm leaves, and the font on the yellow canola bucket)
the condo across the way is empty, and i got a wrong number looking for a house for sale, i told them that concidentally the house next door was for sale, and walked over there, the sign had changed that day to sold.

i ate and drank with patrick last night, and i think i crowded him with my thoughts and questions.
he got me a wooden pinnocho, some saints medals (bendict, jude, our lady of gaudelope) and a dark wood and silver rosary from the vatican.
i will hold that rosary holy, it is almost too formal, too beuatiful, too powerful and portent to use, but i will.

chris did the edit that resulted in the first haiku you see below, (chris also broke open the america poem, and edits the journal flim which is amazing, as well as fronting the band the minor thirds, whose sask. ep i saw in seattle, and which is heading my way
(link to the band here )
he also asks for haiku instead of testimonals on his friendster profile, which i have not done yet.
r&w talks about the issues of turning a japanese form into english on his blog, and i think the 5/7/5 maybe an anglo convention.
so i will take haiku to mean a very short poem (3 line is haiku/5 is tanka--but i have seen translations of kasa and basho that are more then 5 but were intended as haiku...) that is meant through allegorical langauge, and often nature, to change the way one thinks about the world, not through conversion but something so subtle and understated that it can only be expressed in code. (dickinson does this well, and in some ways so does creeley)
so here i go, some haiku:
I
i inspect
their haunches
like horseflesh
II
moth comes
to light,
late work and fan noise
III
river is made
brown from silt
and not shit
IV
the summer heat
burns and only
at dawn does comfort come
V
i cannot sleep
they are coming
in the morning for me.
VI
He wanted to see
the expulsion from paradise
but glare blinded
VII
black highway
green grass and
silver silos
VIII
nature comes
from car windows
and television shows
IX
the shell station
no longer bleeds
red neon at night
X
I have stayed up
too late when i hear
the birds greet me
(link to the band here )

industrial materials, esp. found or barely touched are frequently used in minimalist and post minimalist art (chamberlins cars, andres bricks, flavins lights, judds metal and plywood, palmeros fabrics)--the largest collections of this work are stored by dia who has taken over an old army base (marfa) and a cracker factory (beacon) and the tate, who uses the old bankshead power station.
how does medium inform musuem, is it a practical space issue, or is it something larger ?
(also thinking of martin as the most painterl minimalist, a new essay in W qoutes her as self indetifying(sp) as an abexer, which gives caution to our thoughts of cannons and who belongs in them)

Does the ireland seamus heaney(sp) writes about even exist, did it ever, is he just selling nostalgia to the americans (esp. now that he is at harvard, that irish american outpost)?
is he a continuation of the romantic movement of woodsworth and co. ?
how does he relate to Yeats, to Joyce, to Kavanaugh(sp), to the rest of irish literuture (sp)
does anyone else compete with such intense pastorals ?
(are they really pastorals with the muck and the death)
(is the death all perserved, like the bog poems)
does the poverty become less real and more cute (wrong word, twee, kitsch, something else, thinking of frank mccourt)
stevie troussay says i should look at muldoon in context of this, perhaps i shall.

Seed
Some seed in me,
Some troublous birth,
Like an awkward awakening,
stirs into life.
Terrible and instinctive
It touches my guts.
I fear and resist it,
Crouch down on my norms, a man's
Patent assurances.
I don't know its nature.
I have no term for it.
I cannot see its shape.
But, there, inscrutable,
Just underground,
Is the long-avoided tatency.
Like the mushrooms in the oak wood,
Where the high-sloped mountain
Benches the sea,
When the faint rains of November
Damp down the duff,
Wakening their spores---
Like them,
Gross, thick and compelling,
What I fear and desire
Pokes up its head.

thoughts about celibacy, which has been an under current here for a while, but has not been explicitly stated.
01)i like the theory of sex and how it reflects on the nature of humanity, everything from rabelais low comedies to donnes high spirtuality.
02)gerald manley hopkins gave up sex and writing at the same time, and only returned to writing when given permission for his abbott.
03) i feel split in two, god and writing, both singular at the core, both inward thinking and at their best that inward thinking pushes back onto a public audience.
04) what i want from life i think is companionship, i live with out sex quite easily, but cannot imagine living with out other people, what i admire about brittern and bears, chester and wynston, isherwood and his companion is that they wrote and edited and sang and composed a life together, the sex i can barely imagine/
05) i want a company of brothers, mostly to prove to myself it could work.
06) masturbation is a deeply effective way for me to release daily tensions, and i am unsure if i could give that up.
07) am i denying my sex because my sex makes me feel uncomfortable, am i giving up fucking boys out of societal pressures ?
08) i am a sexual radical in that i belive that it can be liberation, and it has liberated me--it got me kicked out of the mormons, it gave me a sense of joy, it taught me compassion, it taught me passion, it gave birth to me--i was born once, and then again as a queer man and then as a christian/
09) i dont want to be used as magdalene (ie repentant whore)
10) i still often think of men sexually, not in a take joy in the lords creation way, but a holy fuck i want him way.
11) this is happening less often.
12) this means that the niggling desire for domesticity will have to be abanoded, the first time i ever thought about kids and now i am supposed to leave that idea behind ?
13) i take desire and let it craft me, i follow the politics and poetics of sex because i think it tells us about who we are.
14) i keep thinking of the old hatian creole proverb tell me who you love and i will tell you who you are.
15) brother antonius, friend of the beats and the black mountain school, joined the domincans in 1951
16) he was anthologized by ginsberg in new american poetry, he wrote angry and political poetry.
17) i make dirty jokes, say fuck and cunt, talk with candor.
18) my mind wanders, rambles, kicks out ideas, it is not placid.
19) i belive in telling the truth, sometimes the priesthood requires polite lies.
20) fthr stephen has told me i cannot become a priest.
21) i love my exes.
22) is this a retreat from the world from god or because i dont want to deal with its implications.
23) can i live the contemplative life.
24) their is delicous irony in the idea that the most radical thing i can do in this culture of sexuaility is deny it
25) how many monks and priests love xtina or britney or pop culture.
26) can i jettison my intellectual pride.
27) can i still hold fondly memoirs of eroticism
28) bittner talks about spending time and almost falling in love with girls at summer camp, and he does not feel like he is giving things up.
29) i am angry at the church, and i love it.
30) in too many ways i am a cynical prick.
31) this is like getting married, and i am worried that it will be all george and martha
32) the lyrical, low key, gossipy, arch high camp style i worked so hard on.
33) i am not joyful enough
34) i am not serious enough.
35) look at all of the damage the priestly castes have done.
36) can i still read hollebeque and his ilk
37) concern about what other people think colours me, how will this affect it.
38) i make too many literary references.
39) what about sfu, vancouver.
40) authourity and problems with.
41) black dog depressions, which encourge solipism.
42) overly romantic visions.
43) my penis.
44) christs penis.
45) lds baggage.
46) the inability to complete what i start.
47) fear and shame of the body.
48) that asshole paul
49) i am not sure that i am doing this b/c god is calling me but b/c it means that i do not have to deal with the implications of wanting what i think i cant have.
50) will i lose my independece to god or to the insutution.

joe daumer talks about the never edit ethics of blogs, and i have thot a long time about taking and revising posts, i did so, and then stopped, and then did so again with notes of what i edited, then dropped the notes, then added them again.
the energy of this place means that it needs to move forward, to go go go go, like a steam train---otherwise the hobgoblins of paronia and self doubt start flinging shit. (which they also do when i start thinking of readers)
so now, all i am thinking about is moving forward quicky.
no edits, no rewrites, no concern re audience.
the energy of this place means that it needs to move forward, to go go go go, like a steam train---otherwise the hobgoblins of paronia and self doubt start flinging shit. (which they also do when i start thinking of readers)

The Atlantic Monthly is moving to LA and changing format to a more pop culture vein. While I think we need more intellecutal currency in LA , and i think that the discourse could be heightened in that reigon of the world, and i think that la is a great place, and i think that it is starting to deveolp a serious art culture at ucla and that uc irvince has got economics down pat, i still think this is a rather moronic idea.
though art forum moved from la to nyc when it started making money in the late 70s, and it turned from a fun and playful critical gangbang into missionary married sex, i doubt the prim spinster could pull a reverse move.
its like imagining emily dickionson with a boob job.

Anthony,
Take whatever time you need with it and send me back a clean copy whenever you are ready. Also, send a short bio of whatever you would like and include your e-mail in it if you'd lke.
Also, know that I like this specific poem, but I also like your work in general, a kind of understated lyricism, as I read it, and I hope you'll keep trying us with other work. We like to continue to support the writers we like.
Best, Chris

reading summerhill by as neil while watching a special on child beauty pageant, i realized how close i was to neils model, and how far away i was from anything else.
the problem with neil is how freudian he was, for example his obsessions with elimanating filth, his discussions on masterbation and his assumption that homosexuailty was constructed from a shame cycle.
looking at how perversely sexual the children on the documentary were tonight, and thinking of my own shame training, i do not think that he was wrong about wanking and fear of the body, (esp. in a religous context) and he may not even be wrong about shit playing. and he is right on how and why children are sexual--he is wrong about homosex, but that could be time and place.

my aunts and uncles and grandparents all are still married, all of the marriages "worked" except for my mothers and my fathers, which was tramautic enough.
even though marriage and romantic love are recent inventions, they might just have been invented for a purpose beyond the pecuinary(sp).
maybe i am wrong about this.

Thomas is getting married today but hes in maple ridge and im in edmonton, we just talked, and in my lack of sleep addled brain i couldnt get the words out, thomas and melinda are the couple that convinces me that marriage is more then property, that marriage can and will be a commitment that lasts for both of thier lives and is founded on love, respect and fear of the glory of god.
melinda and thomas give me faith in the old ways, because i know that they will work through changes within themselves and the world. By this working they will make a permanant impact on the way things are run. They love each other, and not the cheap romanticism that is traded for love today, but a love of passion, dignity, duty and intelligence.
they are suiting up to run the long race, and too few people who get into this morass have done that. For them the descion was so clear, and naturally progressed, that it doesnt seem a morass, but a natural extension. This was not done out of properity or obligation,
i dont know what else to say, but thomas and melinda give me hope for the future, and for someone so used to cheap cynicism and general despai--hope for the future is a wonderful gift.

if i ever get married (and that prosepect seems to have left, if it ever occured),
then the push of tradtion and properity will never apply to us.

the advantages of having a wal mart in bejing are two fold--you can just drive the slave produced goods downtown, and when one of the workers raises a fuss about not being able to unionize, or working too long hours, or being fucked over when it comes to pay, you can always have him arrested and shot.

The problem with these lists is that it is an excercise in laugh at these dumb hicks, with out realizing how self refential and often campy the intentions are--country music is deeply lyrical and it uses word play in ways that are much more ambigous and playful then most people recognize--alice randall, african american academic, parodist and country song writer called it the closest thing she has found to the caroline poets, and i would have a tendency to agree with her.

tomorrow i will have dinner with sean and tell him that he can move in with bryan and i. i did not want him to because of nervousness concerning livining with people (boarding schools and mental hospitals in early adolescence mean that privacy is at a key later on), i was worried about how he and i interacted, his lack of socail graces and his obsessions which didnt match with mine.
sean i have to smile and nod with, and people smile and nod with me.
my other reservation is that he came with beggars cap in hand, acting v. manipultive--and that is something i do not react well to, matthew 25 tells me to house the homeless, and i need to do this, i am obliged by my god, and i cannot in my heart get over this fact. my inner 6 yr old is holding a tantrum whining i doooooooooont waaaana.
but i will.
(i am an asshole at heart, speaking cruely behind others backs, using nasty words, pretending to be the victim while really being the villian, i did this with raymond at the smog gig, mostly b/c i didnt assume that he had feelings, and i told jhen how i felt when i saw her randomly at HUB--i also tore into news writing, which she does, its not tactlessness, it is something much more savage. )
everyone calls me nice and kind and gentle and tender.
but i am an asshole who uses people, and seeks to destroy them.
i am as ruthless as i need to be.

The Harry Potter books are introducing children to the idea of going into bookstores and buying books. This is important. It’s not just a matter of selling their parents a book or two of their own when the family comes in to buy the latest Harry Potter for their youngsters, though that’s happening too. It used to be that kids would run into books in paperback wire racks in drugstores and grocery stores, and see all those brightly-colored corrugated displays in the doorways of shopping mall chain bookstores. That’s getting less and less common. Standalone superstores are great, but they only sell books to people who go into bookstores. Like reading itself, we want that to become a habit.

Small men took on the powers and airs of tyrants and masters. Years of unpunished brutality and bullying and rape produced a dullness and hardness of conscience. Christian men and women became blind to the clearest commands of their faith and added hypocrisy to injustice. A republic founded on equality for all became a prison for millions."

his defense was that he didnt mean to say this on air, which proves that homophobia is still rampant, and its ok as long as you keep quiet.

it is our duty to witness, to say that we are queer, and to note every time that our lives are violated.
that is why the bishop of reading pisses me off so much.

Yes and no. There are plenty of pedestrian paths to walk along. They just aren't alongside the roads. And when you think about it, if you have a choice, where would you prefer to walk? I'm also impressed by the fact that every Sunday, the central motorway is closed for pedestrians, who can then jog, cycle, scooter, and occasionally have stalls and concerts along it.

lot of gay people think, 'I was just automatically gay. There was no decision involved,' but that's not really true. They've made their first big decision by just saying, 'I'm going to live a gay life.' And if they can make that kind of move it's an indication that the potential exists for something more. Now, a lot of them don't ever do anything about it because it's just as easy to get lost in this gay world as it is in the straight world. But if somebody really wants something different they can really do it on an independent, searching basis through being homosexual. —Tom Rauffenbart, The Ninth Street Center Journal, Vol. 2, 1974"

: I would hope not. But I'll tell you this: I think that any honest and candid supporter of the death penalty has to acknowledge that that support comes in spite of the fact that there will inevitably be some mistakes. And that's a harsh concession to make, but I think it's the only honest concession to make, and it should spur us to have appreciation for habeas corpus, for the procedural safeguards for the accused, and for the fairness that's a part of the American judicial system and to resist efforts to take away the procedural safeguards.

there is no dispute that the charlie chan films are deeply racist, in the same way that gone with the wind was, that said, they are needed to remind us of the implications of our actions, the consquences of our history, and as a way to find how our intentions and actions have changed.
that, and even more difficultly, they are great movies, well acted and written, with brilliant pacing.

yesterday was danielles birthday, and then seans.
i drank too much, ate too richly.
it was a night rife with symbolism and deeper meanings, and it was a night of congealing.
at the japanese resturant, after the meal, a slight of hand artist made things disappear, and reappear, joked and pattered and made his routine smooth and soft...
at the patio of a bar at the most expenisve hotel in the city, i encouraged danielles decadence, and mine as well. two cocktails, one bitter and one sweet, and creme brulee (the hard thick crust of sugar, the velvet of processed lavendar and oranges--seeing the couples spill out of the wedding next door into the formal gardens. seeing the rows and rows of city lights, like chinese terraces, -- hearing the dj playing hip hop, balladry, disco--smelling each other, pine, and a whiff of exhaust...
in the car dropping her off, a little drunk, the intimacy came quick and fast, i felt more comfortoble then i had since she left, and the ease seemed to last for the first time.
picking sean up, his father drunk and boisturus, talking smack and violence, each time a lull in the conversation, a cooler or a pitcher appeared, and we drank, more and more and more--we talked about my book, about god, about politics. the words came too quickly, i am still unsure if it was the liqour.
after the bar, walking back singing, collpasing into cool grass, stumbling,
dennys an ice cream sundae, i went to the car alone as the sun rose, and i puked, it came up quickly, and it came up coipously, i apologized over and over again, feeling awful, guilty to make a mess, ashamed of my lack of control, of my hedonism, of my inability to say no, of my taking advantage and of people cleaning up my messes.
got to bryans, and he put me in the bath, tucked me in, gave me a hug...he has taken the domiant role, and i have conceded it, but that scares me deeply.
thruout the evening it felt like a pack, it felt like a crew, it felt like prowling night time hunting, and another week where i go to bed at dawn and get up in the mid afternoon.
today, i slept, and read harry potter, and had a deeply upsetting conversation with jeff.
i drank too much, ate too richly.
it was a night rife with symbolism and deeper meanings, and it was a night of congealing.
at the japanese resturant, after the meal, a slight of hand artist made things disappear, and reappear, joked and pattered and made his routine smooth and soft...
at the patio of a bar at the most expenisve hotel in the city, i encouraged danielles decadence, and mine as well. two cocktails, one bitter and one sweet, and creme brulee (the hard thick crust of sugar, the velvet of processed lavendar and oranges--seeing the couples spill out of the wedding next door into the formal gardens. seeing the rows and rows of city lights, like chinese terraces, -- hearing the dj playing hip hop, balladry, disco--smelling each other, pine, and a whiff of exhaust...
in the car dropping her off, a little drunk, the intimacy came quick and fast, i felt more comfortoble then i had since she left, and the ease seemed to last for the first time.
picking sean up, his father drunk and boisturus, talking smack and violence, each time a lull in the conversation, a cooler or a pitcher appeared, and we drank, more and more and more--we talked about my book, about god, about politics. the words came too quickly, i am still unsure if it was the liqour.
after the bar, walking back singing, collpasing into cool grass, stumbling,
dennys an ice cream sundae, i went to the car alone as the sun rose, and i puked, it came up quickly, and it came up coipously, i apologized over and over again, feeling awful, guilty to make a mess, ashamed of my lack of control, of my hedonism, of my inability to say no, of my taking advantage and of people cleaning up my messes.
got to bryans, and he put me in the bath, tucked me in, gave me a hug...he has taken the domiant role, and i have conceded it, but that scares me deeply.
thruout the evening it felt like a pack, it felt like a crew, it felt like prowling night time hunting, and another week where i go to bed at dawn and get up in the mid afternoon.
today, i slept, and read harry potter, and had a deeply upsetting conversation with jeff.
