canada--that loosest of confederations, who is mostly defined by an intricate set of resentments, half agreed to comprmises, and failed conslidations, and who was born from one empire, and become tethered to another...and yet, in the midst all of at, kind of sort of functions most days...today, i will remember the execution of Louis Riel, the Red River Rebellion, the Winnipeg General Strike, the Chinese Head Tax, WWII internment camps, the Resdential schools, the Komagata Maru, the bullying of Newfoundland, the copper disks, numbered and not named on Inuit's in Nunuvat, and last week...today, i will remember the kindess to charles ord, Lester B Pearson's work with the UN, the Hutterites moving north after the Dakotas german racism, Tommy Douglas and that peculiar Saskatchwan socialism, that Nunvat is now the largest Indigenous land claim settlement in the world,the fairly open borders in the last 25 years, that Mulroney did not manage to completely dismantle our saftey network, and that we keep trying to remember and to seek forgiveness.
