nitsuht: Even if you're not the one having them.
ronnylongjohns: did you guys see that movie with the killer worms 'squirm'
clobberthesaurus: No?!?!?!
clobberthesaurus: Is it good?
ronnylongjohns: in a b-movie way i guess
clobberthesaurus: I want to see a KILLER WORM MOVIE!
nitsuht: I was dumb enough to watch "The Mummy Returns" tonight.
clobberthesaurus: I saw Not Another Teen Movie this weekend
ronnylongjohns: yay worms coming out of the showerhead
clobberthesaurus: All right!
nitsuht: I didn't previously realize that "The Scorpion King" was a prequel / spinoff of the Mummy franchise.
clobberthesaurus: That sounds ace.

Fragment after a country show
a prose poem
He is playing a snare drum but every so often sings or plays a black guitar
The set, almost through and everyone on the stage looks like they are having a good time
Here, across the dance floor, I am watching him sweat under the stage lights. I’m falling in love
It may be the peach shirt he wears, or his straw hat, or his smile or his joy
It may be his balding pate - or maybe (and this seems to be the case) he looks like taking a van from the coast to the prarie over night is energizing
That rambling energy makes me hope I’ll be the boy he has in this port
His set closes and down and then just before the headliner, I corner him, see the dark hair, as slick and black as an otter covering his chest, smell his sweat- intimadated I ask him to sign the poster I nicked from outside. He's gracious and shocked, thanks me for my kindness and I feel the entire world like an earnest fan boy. He leans close to me, puts his hand on my shoulder said thank you, talked to me about Victoria as he scrawls his name near the name of the singer. Nothing is named after the drummer- always the singer- from Buddy Holly's crickets to Neil Young's Crazy horses. He didn't seem to mind being part of the band and with that grin as he signed - that genuine and shy concern that someone liked him I thought he was going to bundle me away to Calgary or Saskatoon or where ever he was going next. I trailed him to the merchandise table, backing a warm brick wall and at an inconspicous corner, I ignored him - talked to the first musican (Danielle Howle) who played about Joni Mitchell. He didn't talk, stood guard silent and weary- the energy seems to come from the stage, the rock and roll. The peach shirt and the straw hat matched his skin sallow from road food. Danielle gave me a sticker and told me "she knew who her friends were". I gave her a list of cheap Thai. The headliner (Kelly Hogan) is starting and I thank Danielle look over at the drummer, and almost miss Kelly's first song, settling into the same corner of the dance floor, ignoring Kelly's heart breaking hard drinking never fucked him up no matter how much it fucked up her voice with half an ear. I was still paying attention to the drummer, still at the merchandise table, All of a sudden he bolted up and a girl who barely reached his nipples came close to him. He settled into her, curling protectivly over her dimunitive form

I believe in Jesus, I believe in Mother Church- The Apostles Creeddoesn't give me reason to pause. These are really simple works and not intended towards any deep parsing. The thoughts I have had about Catholicism are not about the basics of theology. I concern myself with the very real problems of the church , worrying about the effects of celiabcy, for example or how the chuch can last with out changing or its views on people like me
I work hard at doubting. I do not believe that there are universals, and that doubt coupled with a Focculdian obsession with finding the wizard behind the curtains, has made my explorations of Catholicism explorations of power. They are not really about the theology itself but who holds the power and how does who have the power maintain control .
There is a http://fearsomepirate.blogspot.com/that I found randomly that does other things, it does not seem to nitpick politics or concern itself with the World. I am impressed with his intelligence and ready wit. He concerns himself with the difficult structural questions of theology with more skills then I have. The way he parses hermeneuticsis brilliant. He can view scripture and see what is there, as opposed to me who sees what is left out.
He is Lutheran and believes in Luthers words deeply. Instead of using arguments of emotion, he uses reason. He refuses to be pulled into the techniques of propaganda. He reads the works of other theologian, and then using the tools they have left out points out what's wrong.
I have not read alot of protestant theology. The words of Luther scared me , and to prove he was wrong I took the easy way out, reading his . more controversial works This website has convinced me to read the 95 theses again ( he uses that word-theses) and realize what Luther said about the Pope is still realvent.
There are other works I don't know, other thinkers I have heard in passingsin or that I have dismissedfor no really reasons . There are people he quoatesthat i had no exsisted My arrogance and anger at the protestant experince have been laid out .
I want to email him ,and ask for forgiveness. I want him to teach me , and tell me all there is to know about these things. We can congratulate ourselves on not believing anything , in pulling the rug out . There is so much visceral joy in seeing the emperor naked that the easy assumption that all robes are transparent is made.
Everyone needs to have this much passion about their beliefs. This college kid has more skill then most of the Jesuits I know. Yes he is publishing on a blog, but that way he can write what he want to and have an audience larger then religious Journals that no one ever reads. I wonder if its gauche to ask him to translate it for a newbie ?
(PS- He also talks about how much girls flummox him, and the importance of beer- just in case you think he is some kind of freak)

This is a photograph by Man Ray, but the model and inspiration was kiki-there are also photos of man ray, marcel and her in a threesome, there is something deeply disappointing when you realize the eroticism of dada wasn't tied into theory but a reflection of exsesintce and something reassuring in how radical there sex lives and their aesthic lives were
Oh and Duchamp has a skinny ass
The history of Dada had as many woman as men,
Sophie Tauber Arp Twisted and broke apart womans craft, pushed it into art long before Judy Chicago
Kiki De Mousspant told Duchamp and Man Ray where to put the camera ( read that as Freud would )
Hannah Hoch made colleges of bitter anger , talking about how the body withers under capitalism , and how little difference there was between BMW and Die Fuhere
And well she Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven she was a woman who shaved her head and painter it red, who wore bustles with taillights, tomato cans to cover her tits and a birdcage with canaries arround her neck, she wrote poetry that was closer to fucking then loving- but isn't included in the new book surrealist love poems with boypervs like Breton, She refused to be ignored and refused to be stepped on. Lately she is finding herself more and more respected- esp. w. the latest biography and its review in the ny times.
