Thesis: The last 45 years of American Led Warfare, have been a unfolding story about information, control, and democracy. Using Walter Cronkite claiming Veitnam was over, who controls the information about a war, controls the war. From that point, we have My Lai, then CNN, and the first gulf war. Each of those were controlled by large corperate enterprises working in tandem with the military industrial complex. With Baudillard's essay on the gulf war, Sontags realtionship with the Baltic and Fuykuama's(sp) end of history, the idea of top down media representation ends, and a sort of post-history emerges. This post-history was founded on blogs, email, digital still cameras, DVR, and cheap memory. The control of information has become impossible, and how it leaks, why it leaks, who has leaked it, and other similar questions provide a kind of shadow discourse, esepcially when it leaks into the mainstream, or when images intended to be private souivneers become public.
