i am starting to fall in love with kolchalka again, my problem with the strips after his being a parent are exactly that, my problem. now that i have friends with kids, i dont know, i am feeling more tender about the whole mess.

he makes me feel optimistic and he cares deeply about other people, his autobiography is miraculously free of solipism. (or as eddie campbell says:"I count it as one of the important ongoing bodies of work in the comics field today. he draws himself as an 'elf', his friends as assorted dogs or whatever, and none of this could ever convince you that the thing is not a real and accurate account of the daily life of now...")
