one of the (many, many) interesting things about MIA, is though she raids global funk, msot of her sources seem already mixed...(ie favela is a mix of south beach, samba, afro-pop, and portugese dance music; bhangra is euro-house, american hip-hop, and bollywood; grime is american hip-hop and the anglo narrative tradition; ghana/nigerian afro-beat works to cross africa in ways marcus garvey never imagined; etc)
