larkin was one of those poets that seems seamless, and easy going, his poems causal jottings, but if you look at the dates and read the diaries/letters/biographies you come to a realazation(Sp) that he rewrote everything, that he spent years working on drafts, carefully placing each word and each line.

which makes this recent ms discovery difficult, b/c i dont think they are complete, they were not intended by him to be published, zombie authours and all that.

(also, the porn books, the dykesoltiaon at the boarding school, do you think that one of the rerasons that he wrote those was because it did not require care, the reckless immediacy had its charm---or did he just need wank material ?)
